AFCAT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

For Flying Branch:

  • Minimum 50% marks each in Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level, OR
  • Graduation with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University, OR
  • BE/B Tech degree with minimum 60% marks from a recognized University, OR
  • Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks

For Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:

  • Minimum 60% marks each in physics and mathematics at 10+2 level and a degree in graduation/post-graduation in engineering and technology from a recognized university

Age Limit

  • Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2027 (born between 02 January 2003 to 01 January 2007)
  • Upper age limit for candidates with Commercial Pilot License: 26 years (born between 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2007)
  • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2027
  • Marital Status: Must be unmarried at course commencement; marriage during training leads to discharge

  • Rs. 550/- + GST (non-refundable) for AFCAT entry (not applicable for NCC special entry)

The AFCAT written exam is conducted online with 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 300 marks over 2 hours. Each correct answer awards +3 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for wrong responses.
