The Indian Ministry of Railways, Railway Police Force (RPF) has released an important notification regarding the exam dates for Sub Inspector and Constable positions. The Computer Based Test (CBT) 2018 is scheduled to begin from December 19th onwards.

Exam Details

  • Name of posts: Sub Inspectors (SI) and Constables
  • Exam date: The Computer Based Test will begin from December 19th onwards
  • Note: The Central Recruitment Committee for SI and the Central Recruitment Committee for Constable have allotted Roll numbers to all valid candidates. These roll numbers will be communicated to candidates by November 16th through email. Subsequently, the detailed CBT schedule will be released on the official website of Indian Railways.

The exam consists of Phase I: Computer Based Test (CBT).

Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • Language options: Candidates can choose from 15 language options: Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Konkani, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Gujurati, Bengali, Odia, Assamese, Manipuri, and Punjabi
  • Standard: 10th/Matric level
  • Marking scheme: 1 mark for each correct answer, 1/3 marks deducted for every wrong answer. No marks for unattempted questions
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Total Questions: 120

Syllabus

  • General Awareness (50 marks): Questions covering Indian History, Art & Culture, Geography, Economics, General Polity, Indian Constitution, Sports, and General Science. The test aims to evaluate the candidate’s general awareness of their environment and its application to society, along with knowledge of current events and everyday observations.
  • Arithmetic (35 marks): Topics include Number systems, whole numbers, decimals and fractions, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, and time and distance.
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning (35 marks): Topics include analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, and syllogistic reasoning.
