Rio Olympic 2016: A Memorable Conclusion
Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, officially declared the closing of the Rio 2016 Olympics, stating ‘the marvelous Games in the marvelous city ends.’ The next Olympics will be hosted by Tokyo, Japan.
India’s Olympic Journey
For India, the Rio Games marked a historic moment with Sakshi Malik becoming the country’s first female wrestling medalist. She carried the Indian flag during the closing ceremony, while Abhinav Bindra had the honor of being the opening ceremony flag-bearer.
