Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Only students currently studying Class VIII during the Academic Session 2019-20 in Govt. or Govt. recognized schools of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is functioning and where admission is sought are eligible.
- Candidates appearing for the admission test must qualify/pass Class VIII in the academic session 2019-20 from a Govt. or Govt. recognized school in the district where they are seeking admission.
- A candidate seeking admission must be born between 01.05.2004 and 30.04.2008 (both days inclusive). This applies to all categories including Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Selection Process
- Selection in the selection test does not guarantee admission until the candidate produces all relevant certificates such as birth certificate, Class VIII pass certificate with mark sheets, SC/ST certificate (if applicable) as prescribed by NVS.
- Details of marks obtained in the test will not be communicated, and there is no provision for re-checking/re-totalling.
- Candidates will be considered for admission only into that Vidyalaya for which they have appeared for the Selection Test.
- At admission time, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) & Other Backward Classes (OBCs) must produce the required Scheduled Caste/Tribe or OBC Certificate issued by the competent authority.
- In case of any dispute, the decision of NVS will be final and binding on the candidates.
NV 2020 Lateral Entry Exam Pattern for Class IX
- The Selection Test will consist of questions from Mathematics, General Science, English, and Hindi. The difficulty level of the test paper will be of Class VIII.
- Nature of the Selection Test:
- English: 15 Marks
- Hindi: 15 Marks
- Maths: 35 Marks
- Science: 35 Marks
- Total: 100 Marks
- Duration: 2½ hours (10:00 AM to 12:30 PM). Candidates with special needs (Divyang) will receive an additional 30 minutes, subject to conditions.
- The test will be objective type with 2½ hours duration without any break.
- Merit List will be announced as per the NVS selection criteria.
- Exam Centre: The examination centre will be in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya of the concerned district or any other centre allotted by NVS. Any changes will be indicated in the admit card.
- Medium of Language: Available in both English and Hindi.
