Indian Navy Recruitment 2016: PC & SSC Officer Vacancies
The Indian Navy has invited applications from unmarried Indian citizens for Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in various branches and cadres. The course will commence in June 2017 at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Kerala.
Available Positions
Permanent Commission (PC)
- Educational Qualification: M.Sc. Physics (with Maths in B.Sc.), M.Sc. Maths (with Physics in B.Sc.), M.Sc. Chemistry (with Physics in B.Sc.), M.A. (English) (with Physics or Maths in Intermediate or equivalent), M.A. (History), or BE/B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics
- Age Limit: 21 to 25 years for male candidates
Short Service Commission (SSC)
- Educational Qualification: BE/B.Tech in any discipline, MBA, B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc.(IT) with first class and PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Material Management, or MCA/M.Sc (IT)
- Age Limit: 19½ – 25 years for both male and female candidates
Physical Standards
- Height & Weight: Minimum height – Male: 157 cm, Female: 152 cm with correlated weight as per age and height
- Eye Sight: Minimum acceptable vision standards for distance is 6/6, 6/12 correctable to 6/60, 6/60 with glass. Should not be color/night blind
- Tattoo: Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body. Concessions permitted to candidates from tribal areas. For others, tattoos only allowed on inner face of forearms and reverse side of palm/back of hand
Selection Process
- The Ministry of Defense reserves the right to shortlist applications and set cut-off percentages without assigning any reason
- SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam from December 2016 to March 2017
- SSB interview consists of two stages: Stage I (Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion) and Stage II (Psychological testing, Group testing and Interview)
- Stage II tests last for 4 days. Successful candidates undergo Medical Examination (3-5 days duration)
- Candidates recommended by SSB and declared medically fit will be appointed for training based on merit
- AC 3-tier rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview (first time for that type of commission)
