Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Recruitment 2017 Batch
Indian Coast Guard (under Ministry of Defence) is an Armed Force of the Union offering a challenging and inspiring career in various branches as a Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officer in the rank of Assistant Commandant – 01/2017 Batch (Men & Women).
Available Posts and Eligibility
The recruitment includes several posts with specific educational qualifications and age limits:
Assistant Commandant
General Duty & General Duty (Pilot) (Male)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Mathematics and Physics must be subjects up to intermediate or class XII level with 60% aggregate marks in both subjects. Candidates without Physics & Maths in 10+2 level are not eligible.
- Age Limit: 01 Jul 1992 to 30 Jun 1996 (both dates inclusive)
Technical Branch (Mechanical and Electrical) (Male)
- Education: Engineering degree with 60% marks in aggregate OR Sections A and B examination from Institution of Engineers (India) in disciplines like Naval architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, or Power Engineering. All streams must be recognized by AICTE. Minimum 60% marks in Physics and Maths in 12th class OR Three year diploma with 60% aggregate.
- Age Limit: 01 Jul 1992 to 30 Jun 1996 (both dates inclusive)
Short Service Commission
Commercial Pilot License-SSA (Male & Women)
- Education: 12th class pass with 60% marks in aggregate and current/valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued/validated by DGCA on application submission date.
- Age Limit: 01 Jul 1992 to 30 Jun 1998 (both dates inclusive)
General Duty (Women)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate. Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to intermediate or class XII level with 60% aggregate marks in both subjects.
- Age Limit: 01 Jul 1992 to 30 Jun 1996 (both dates inclusive)
Pay Scale
Pay Band-3 (Rs.15600-39100) with Grade Pay Rs.5400/-
Selection Procedure
The selection process involves multiple stages:
Stage – I: Preliminary Selection
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for Preliminary Selection consisting of Mental Ability Test/Cognitive Aptitude Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT)
- Aptitude test will be in English only and objective type
- During PP&DT, candidates can speak in English or Hindi
- Date/time and venue of Preliminary Selection, once allotted, cannot be changed at any stage
Stage – II: Final Selection
- Candidates qualifying Preliminary Selection will be called for Final Selection Board (FSB)
- Date and venue for FSB will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in
- FSB consists of Psychological Test, Group Task, and Interview (Personality test)
- All documents/certificates verified during Preliminary Selection Board must be produced in originals during FSB
Medical Examination
- All candidates recommended by Final Selection Board will undergo Medical examination at nearest Military Hospital
- Candidates for GD (Pilot) and CPL will undergo medical at AFCME, Delhi / IAM, Bengaluru
PABT & CPSS
- GD (Pilot) candidates qualifying FSB must appear for PABT and CPSS at Dehradun / Mysore AFSBs
- Candidates already qualified PABT & CPSS must provide batch, Chest number, and place details while filling PIQ forms during FSB
Merit List
- Recommendation in FSB does not confirm final selection
- Merit list will be prepared for medically fit candidates based on marks obtained at FSB
- Number of vacancies may vary from branch to branch
- Selected candidates list will be uploaded on Coast Guard recruitment website www.joinindiancoastguard.gov.in during December 2016
Validity of Selection
The candidate’s selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final merit list have no rights for automatic selection for the next batch. Such candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch.
Reasons for Rejection
The candidature of a candidate can be rejected at any time during the selection process if:
- Not meeting any of the laid down criteria/conditions of educational qualifications, age, submission of wrong information in the application or false certificates etc.
- Act of indiscipline activities including copying, cheating, malpractices or data recording during any of the testing procedures
