The Indian Army is calling for applications from both married and unmarried male Post Graduates for granting Permanent Commission in the Army Education Corps. The course will commence in January 2017 at the prestigious Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

Educational Qualifications & Subject-wise Vacancies

  • MA in English/Economics/History/Geography/Political Science/Philosophy/Psychology/Sociology/Public Administration/Statistics/International Relations/International Studies: 5 Posts
  • M.Sc in Physics/Chemistry/Maths/Botany/Geology/Nano Science/Electronics/M.Com/MCA: 3 Posts
  • Foreign Languages (MA in Chinese/Tibetan/Burmese/Pushto/Dari & Arabic): 2 Posts

Candidates must have passed Post Graduate Degree in the notified subjects with 1st or 2nd Division to be eligible.

Age Limit

23 to 27 years (as on 01/01/2017 – born between 02 Jan 90 and 01 Jan 94, both dates inclusive)

Pay & Allowances

Selected candidates will receive a stipend of Rs. 21,000/- per month (comprising Rs. 15,600/- as pay in Pay Band plus Grade Pay of Rs. 5,400/-)

Selection Process

The selection will involve a two-stage process:

  1. Shortlisting: The Integrated HQ of MoD(Army) reserves the right to shortlist applications and set cutoff percentages without assigning reasons
  2. SSB Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at Selection Centres in Allahabad (UP), Bhopal (MP), and Bangalore (Karnataka) by Psychologist, Group Testing Officer, and Interviewing Officer

SSB interviews will be conducted from July/August 2016 onwards. The entire process spans five days (excluding arrival day). Medical examination follows for candidates recommended after Stage II.

Physical Standards

Candidates must meet the prescribed physical standards and be physically fit. For detailed tattoo policy, please visit the official website.

Training Details

Duration: One year at Indian Military Academy, Dehradun

  • Selected candidates will be detailed for training based on their position in the final merit order
  • Candidates cannot marry during training or live with parents/guardians
  • Any candidate marrying during training will be discharged and liable to refund all government expenses
  • The entire training cost is borne by the government
  • In case of withdrawal from training (except medical grounds), candidates must refund Rs. 8,785/- per week
  • Gentlemen Cadets receive Army Group Insurance Fund coverage of Rs. 60 lakh

Merit List

The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained at the SSB interview. Qualifying at SSB does not confirm final selection. Higher educational qualifications, previous performances, and NCC background have no role in the merit list.
