HCG Legal Assistant Preliminary Exam Syllabus

The Written Test (Objective Type – MCQs) will be conducted at Ahmedabad at the venue decided by the High Court. The test carries 100 Marks and has a duration of 2 hours. It consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each worth 1 Mark, with Negative Marking of 0.25 Mark for each Wrong/Multiple Answer.

• The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
• The Indian Penal Code, 1860
• The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
• The Indian Evidence Act, 1872
• The Indian Contract Act, 1872
• The Specific Relief Act, 1963
• The Transfer of Property Act, 1882
• The Limitation Act, 1963
• General Knowledge
• English Language
• Computer Skills/Applications knowledge
• General I.Q. Test

The language of the question paper for the Written Test (Objective Type – MCQs) will be English.

The Written Test Paper (Objective Type – MCQs) will be assessed/evaluated by computer based on entries made on the OMR Sheet. Since the evaluation is done by scanning, there is no human intervention. Therefore, queries regarding rechecking of OMR Sheets after the Written Test will not be entertained by the High Court.

Candidates securing minimum 50% Marks in the Written Test (Objective Type – MCQs) will be eligible for being called for Viva-Voce Test (Oral Interview).

In case a large number of candidates qualify in the Written Test, the High Court reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates as deemed necessary, according to merit, to proceed to the next stage.
