Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidate must possess a Degree in Law from a University recognized by law in India
- Will have to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) language proficiency test. However, candidates who have cleared their Secondary as well as Higher Secondary Examination with Gujarati (Higher Level at both stages) are not required to pass the aforementioned examination
- Note: Candidates who have passed single subject of Gujarati from various Open Schools/Boards are not exempted from appearing in the Test of Gujarati Language as mandated in Rule 5(2)(aa) of the Gujarat State Judicial Service (Amendment) Rules, 2019
- Candidate must be a practicing Advocate in Courts of Civil and/or Criminal jurisdiction on the last date fixed for submission of Online Applications and must have so practiced continuously for a period not less than Seven Years, immediately preceding as on the last date fixed for submission of the Online Application
- Candidate must possess Basic Knowledge of Computer Application/Operation as set out by the Government of Gujarat in General Administration Department Resolution No. PRCH/102005/1532/K, dated 30/09/2006 and No. CRR/10/2007/120320/G.5, dated 13/08/2008
Age Limit
- A candidate must have attained the age of 35 years and must not have attained the age of 48 years in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Socially & Educationally Backward Classes, declared as such by the Government of Gujarat, as well as Differently Abled Candidates with Locomotor Disability and Ex-Servicemen and 45 years in the case of General Candidates, as on the last date fixed for submission of the Online Application
Pay Scale
- Rs.1,44,840 – Rs.1,94,660 + allowances
Application Fee
- The candidates belonging to General Category are required to pay Examination Fees of Rs.2,000 plus Bank Charges whereas Rs.1,000 plus Bank Charges are required to be paid by the Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Socially & Educationally Backward Classes, Locomotor Disabled Persons and Ex-Servicemen Categories via “Print Application/Pay Fee” Button through SBI e-Pay, provided on the web page of HCOJAS Portal

- Final selection will be held on preliminary test, main exam & interview

Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test)
- The Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) shall consist of 02 Papers (each of 100 Marks & 02 Hours’ duration) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each of 01 Mark and would be based on the following Syllabus:

- The language of the ‘Question Papers’ (I & II) of the Preliminary Examination, will be English
- Preliminary Examination Papers (Objective Type) shall be assessed/evaluated by the Computer, as per entries made on OMR Sheet. As the evaluation is being done on the Computer by Scanning, there is no human intervention and hence, queries relating to rechecking of the OMR Sheets, subsequent to the Preliminary Examination, will not be entertained by the High Court. High Court reserves right to hold examination by any other mode also and if it so held, then also rechecking/reevaluation request will not be entertained by the High Court
