The Railway Protection Force under the Government of India, Ministry of Railways has released an official notification for recruitment of Constable posts. A total of 19,952 positions are available under Advertisement No. 01/2017.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational qualification: Candidates must have passed Matriculation or equivalent examination conducted by a recognized Board. Qualifications from institutions other than recognized State or Central Boards require Government of India notification declaring equivalence to Matriculation/Xth Class for Central Government employment.
- Age limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years as of 1st July 2011. This means birth dates should be between 01/07/1986 and 01/07/1993. Age mentioned in the Matriculation certificate will be the only accepted proof.
- Application Fee: Rs.40 payable via crossed Indian Postal Order or crossed Bank draft. Cheques and Money Orders are not accepted. Female applicants, SC/ST category candidates, Minorities, Economically Backward Classes, and Ex-servicemen are exempt from the examination fee.
Selection Process
Final selection will be based on Written Examination, Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Measurement, Viva-Voce Test, Bonus Marks (if applicable), and Document Verification.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
- Total questions: 120
- Total marks: 120
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Question paper standard: 10th/Matriculation
- Subjects:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 35 questions
- Arithmetic: 35 questions
- General Awareness: 50 questions
- Negative marking: 1/4 (25%)
Bonus Marks Available
- NCC: B Certificate – 1 mark, C Certificate – 2 marks (Maximum 2 marks). Original certificate required. Not available to Ex-Servicemen.
- Sports: University level – 1 mark, State level – 2 marks, International level – 3 marks, National level medal winner – 3 marks
- Height: Male applicants 178cm or above and female applicants above 165cm receive 3 bonus marks
- Total Bonus Marks: Maximum 5 marks across all categories
