Indian Navy Recruitment 2018

The Indian Navy is seeking talented candidates for two prestigious officer positions. They’re offering Short Service Commission (SSC) in Education Branch for both male and female candidates, plus Permanent Commission (PC) in Executive Branch (Logistics Cadre) exclusively for male candidates. The training will begin in January 2019 at the Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala, Kerala. All candidates must meet the nationality requirements set by the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates need specific educational qualifications to apply:

  • SSC (Education):
    • M.Sc. (Physics/Nuclear Physics) with Maths in B.Sc.
    • M.Sc. (Maths/Operational Research) with Physics in B.Sc.
    • M.A. (English)
    • BE/B.Tech (Electronics & Communication/Electrical & Electronics/Electronics & Instrumentation/Electronics & Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering)
  • PC (Logistics):
    • BE/B.Tech in any discipline
    • MBA with First Class
    • B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc.(IT) with first class and PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Material Management
    • MCA/M.Sc (IT)

Minimum Percentage: 60% in all subjects

Important Notes:

  • Degree must be completed when applying
  • Only one application per candidate
  • Candidates eligible for multiple branches must indicate preference order
  • SSB call-ups based on academic performance
  • Shortlisting based on first preference
  • Alternative branch consideration if first preference unavailable
  • Subsequent selection exclusively for chosen branch
  • Education entry candidates need minimum 60% in Class X, XII and English
  • Only specified qualifications are valid

  • Education Branch (SSC): 02 Jan 1994 – 01 Jan 1998
  • Logistics Branch (PC): 02 Jan 1994 – 01 Jul 1999

Physical & Medical Standards

Height & Weight:

  • Male: 157 cm with correlated weight
  • Female: 152 cm with correlated weight

Height Relaxations:

  • Tribals from Ladakh: 155 cm (Male) | 150 cm (Female)
  • Gorkhas, Nepali, Assamese, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Uttarakhand: 152 cm (Male) | 147 cm (Female)
  • Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Minicoy: 155 cm (Male) | 150 cm (Female)
  • Bhutan, Sikkim, North East: 152 cm (Male) | 147 cm (Female)

Eye Sight: Minimum 6/60 in both eyes, correctable to 6/6 in better eye and 6/12 in worst eye. No color/night blindness.

Tattoos: Not permitted except inner forearm and back of hand for non-tribal areas. Tribal concessions available.

Selection Process

The Indian Navy reserves the right to shortlist applications based on academic performance without assigning reasons. No communication will be entertained regarding shortlisting decisions.

SSB interviews will be conducted in Bangalore, Bhopal, Coimbatore, and Visakhapatnam from May 18 to July 18. Candidates can select their preferred dates through the application dashboard. Shortlisted candidates will receive email or SMS notifications.

The SSB process spans five days:

  • Stage I (Day 1): Intelligence Test, Picture Perception, Discussion
  • Stage II (Days 2-5): Psychological testing, Group testing, Interview

Candidates failing Stage I return the same day. Successful candidates undergo medical examination (3-5 days). Final appointments depend on All India Merit based on SSB marks.

SSB center changes aren’t permitted. Date change requests should be addressed to the SSB call-up officer after receiving the call-up letter.
