AFCAT 2022 Notification: Join the Indian Air Force as Group A Gazetted Officer
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is calling out to Indian citizens (both men and women) to join their elite force as Group A Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Flying Branch: Candidates must have passed with minimum 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks OR BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks OR cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks.
- Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:
• Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}: Candidates with minimum 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and minimum four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers with minimum 60% marks in disciplines including Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering/Technology, Computer Science and Engineering/Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering/Technology, Electronics Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Spacecraft Technology, Engineering Physics, Electric Power and Machinery Engineering, Infotech Engineering, Cyber Security.
• Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}: Candidates with minimum 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and minimum four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognized University OR cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks in disciplines including Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Mechanical Engineering (Production), Mechanical Engineering (Repair and Maintenance), Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Aerospace and Applied Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, Robotics, Nanotechnology, Rubber Technology and Rubber Engineering. - Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches:
• Administration: Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks OR cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks.
• Education: Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.
• Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university with 60% marks OR cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks. - NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 Dec 17. Minimum of 60% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2. Graduates with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks OR BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks OR cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with minimum 60% marks.
Age Limit
- Flying Branch – 20-24 Years as on 1 July, 2023.
- Ground Duty (Technical/Non Technical) Branches- 20 to 26 years as on 1 July, 2023.
Application Fee
- Candidates have to pay Rs. 250/- through online after filling the online application form of AFCAT. The fee is non refundable. Candidates registering for NCC special entry and Meteorology are not required to pay the fee.
Selection Process
Candidates who submit their applications will be called for AFCAT written examination, Officers Intelligence Rating Test & Picture Perception and Discussion test, Psychological test, Group tests/Interview.

Eligible candidates can apply online for IAF AFCAT-2 2022 through the official website. It is to be noted that Aadhaar Card is a mandatory document for online registration.
