The Director General of Border Security Force (BSF), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has announced a new recruitment drive for Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (Assistant Commandant) positions in the Veterinary Wing. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry or equivalent from a recognized University with registration in the Veterinary Council of India.
- Note: Candidates without the required educational qualification certificate, those appearing for examinations, awaiting results, or not possessing the certificate of registration from the Veterinary Council of India should not apply.
Age Limit
- Male and female candidates between 23 to 30 years of age.
Application Fee
- Candidates applying for the post of Assistant Commandant (Water Wing) need to pay Rs.400/- (Rupees Four hundred only) as examination fee through any online payment mode.
Selection Process
The selection procedure consists of two phases:
First Phase:
- Documentation
- Physical Standard Test
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Second Phase:
- Interview
- Medical Examination

- Weight: Proportionate to height and age. (M & F)
- 100 Meters Race: In 16 Seconds (M) | In 18 Seconds (F)
- 800 Meters Race: In 3 Minutes 45 Seconds (M) | In 4 Minutes 45 Seconds (F)
- Long Jump: 3.5 Meters (3 chances to be given) (M) | 3.0 Meters (3 chances to be given) (F)
- Shot put (7.26 Kgs): 4.5 Meters (M) | Not applicable (F)
- Note: All PET events are qualifying in nature. Candidates must qualify all PET events independently. Failing any event results in disqualification.
