The UPSC CDS 1 2024 examination offers a total of 457 positions across various defense academies:
- Indian Military Academy, Dehradun: 100 posts
- Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala: 32 posts
- Air Force Academy, Hyderabad: 32 posts
- Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Men): 275 posts
- Officers Training Academy, Chennai (Women): 18 posts
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must meet specific educational requirements based on their preferred academy:
- For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai: Degree from a recognized University or equivalent
- For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution
- For Air Force Academy: Degree from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering
- Graduates: Those with first choice as Army/Navy/Air Force must submit proof of graduation/provisional certificates during the SSB Interview
Age Limit
Age requirements vary by academy:
- IMA: Unmarried male candidates born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2006
- Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2006
- Air Force Academy: Age 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2025 (born between January 2, 2001, and January 1, 2005). Candidates with valid Commercial Pilot Licence from DGCA can get age relaxation up to 26 years (born between January 2, 1999, and January 1, 2005)
Application Fee
Candidates (except Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted) must pay Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only). Payment can be made through:
- Cash at any SBI branch
- Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card
- UPI Payment
- Internet banking of any bank
Selection Process
Candidates must successfully clear four stages to qualify: written exam, SSB interview/personality test, document verification, and medical examination.
How to Apply
UPSC released the CDS application form along with the notification on December 20, 2023. Follow these steps to apply before the deadline:
- Visit the official website: upsconline.nic.in
- Log into your registered account or register for the OTR
- Click on the CDS 1 exam link
- Fill out all required details
- Upload photograph, signature, and Photo Identity card
- Pay the application fee
- Choose your exam center
- Submit the application form
- You’ll receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number and email ID
