UPSC Recruitment 2018: 23 Posts Available Across Multiple Departments

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released an official notification announcing recruitment for 23 positions in central government departments. These include Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Paediatric Surgery), Chemist, Deputy Director (Examination Reforms), Scientist-B (Hydrometeorologist) and Medical Officer posts.

  • Specialist Grade III Assistant Professor (Paediatric Surgery): 02 Posts

  • Scientist-B (Hydrometeorologist): 06 Posts
  • Medical Officer: 11 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

Each position has specific educational qualifications and age requirements:

  • Assistant Professor (Paediatric Surgery):
    Required: MBBS degree from recognized university (First/Second Schedule or Part II of Third Schedule of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956). Post-Graduate degree in Paediatric Surgery. Age limit: 43 years.
  • Chemist:
    Required: Master’s Degree in Chemistry from recognized university. Age limit: 35 years.
  • Deputy Director (Examination Reforms):
    Required: Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in History/Sociology/Economics/Political Science/Public Administration/Geography/Law from recognized university. Age limit: 40 years.
  • Scientist-B (Hydrometeorologist):
    Required: Master’s degree in Science or Engineering from recognized university. Equivalent qualifications include Master’s in Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics/Statistics, M.Sc. in any discipline, or Engineering degrees (Civil/Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical). Age limit: 35 years.
  • Medical Officer:
    Required: Medical qualifications from First/Second Schedule or Part-II of Third Schedule of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, plus completion of compulsory rotating internship. Age limit: 35 years.

Application Fee

Candidates must pay Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty five) through SBI cash deposit, net banking, or credit/debit card. No fee for SC/ST/PH/Women candidates. OBC male candidates must pay the full fee.

Selection Process

The selection process varies by position:

  • For interview-only selections: Minimum UR-50, OBC-45, SC/ST/PH-40 marks out of 100
  • For Recruitment Test + Interview: Candidates must meet minimum category requirements at both stages
