Gujarat High Court Civil Judge Preliminary Exam Call Letter 2022

The High Court of Gujarat (HCG) has officially announced that the Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) and Test of Gujarati Language for the Civil Judge cadre has been postponed.

The exam, originally scheduled for May 15, 2022 (Sunday), will now be conducted on June 5, 2022 (Sunday). E-Call Letter-cum-Admission Slips will be available on the HC-OJAS Portal starting from May 30, 2022.

Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test)

The Preliminary Examination will carry 100 marks and last for 2 hours. It consists of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) worth 1 mark each with negative marking of 0.33 marks for wrong answers.

  • The Probation of Offenders’ Act, 1958
  • The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015
  • The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005

  • The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956
  • Pre-conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994

Part – C covers General Knowledge, English Language, Test of Reasoning, Numerical & Mental Ability and Basics of Computer Applications. The language of the question paper will be English only.

Test of Gujarati Language

Candidates who haven’t passed Secondary and Higher Secondary with Gujarati (Higher Level at both stages) must pass this test. It carries 50 marks and has a duration of 1.5 hours.

Main Written Examination

The Main Written Examination (Descriptive Type) is tentatively scheduled for July 17, 2022. It will consist of two papers:

Paper I: Criminal (100 marks, 3 hours)

Covers the same laws as mentioned in Paper I of the Preliminary Examination.

Paper II: Civil (100 marks, 3 hours)

Covers civil law subjects.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must secure 50% or more marks in the Preliminary Examination and meet the Gujarati language requirements to be eligible for the Main Written Examination.
