UPSC Indian Forest Service Examination 2014 Announced
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) Examination, 2014. This national-level recruitment drive offers 85 posts for qualified candidates.

Candidates can submit their online applications between 30 May, 2014 and 30 June, 2014. UPSC has also provided additional benefits this year – all category candidates receive 2 extra attempts and 2 years of age relaxation.
Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: 21 to 32 Years (as on 01/08/2014)
Qualification: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of these subjects: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Zoology. Alternatively, degrees in Agriculture, Forestry, or any Engineering branch from universities established by Central or State Legislature in India are accepted. Equivalent qualifications are also considered valid.
Selection Process
The selection process involves two stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
Candidates must perform well in both examinations to secure a position.
Exam Pattern
The IFS Examination consists of six papers:
- Paper I – General English (300 marks)
- Paper II – General Knowledge (300 marks)
- Paper III – Optional Subject 1 (200 marks)
- Paper IV – Optional Subject 1 (200 marks)
- Paper V – Optional Subject 2 (200 marks)
- Paper VI – Optional Subject 2 (200 marks)
