The written exam will have 4 sections with multiple-choice questions. Section III covers technical topics including:

- Distribution transformer
- HT line/LT line parameters – construction, operational maintenance
- Performance of Electro Mechanic/Static meters
- Functioning of capacitors & reactors
- Low voltage constraints & resolving thereof
- Performance of line fault analysis
- Electrical & Electronics Measurement & Instruments
- Basic role of regulatory commission in power sector
- Non-conventional Energy sources like wind, solar, biomass etc.
- Present power sector scenario in India
